![]() We leave forks onto the Klahanie Ridge Road which starts as pavement and turns to a classic logging road with steep pitches and potholes as it winds through the foothills of the Olympic Mountains cresting at 2500 ft. We start the ride through bucolic fields and forests on a quiet back road for 12 miles where we arrive at Forks, WA, a logging town made famous by werewolves and vampires in the Twilight novels. Experience the rugged beauty of the Olympic Peninsula as we begin this trip dipping our toes into the Pacific Ocean at Rialto Beach. We ride Across the Hood Canal Bridge with frequent sightings of seals and porpoises and arrive at the quaint little logging town of Port Gamble where our journey ends. We work our way through timber lands and our views change to the Cascade mountains and the Hood Canal as we close in on our destination. Day 3 is almost all gravel roads, we start with a climb into the Olympics then descend into Quilcene. Day 3: Sequim Bay to Port Gamble - 38 miles.Stories only grow bigger around the campfire. We end our day camping at Sequim Bay State Park. We then connect with the Olympic Discovery trail on a paved bike trail that meanders through neighborhoods, follows the shores of the Straits and into the farm lands of Sequim. If riders don’t feel comfortable with the single track there is a road option. The trail is 20 miles of beautiful, well built single track and a thing of beauty with views of the Olympic Mountains and Straits of Juan de Fuca. Day 2 starts with a climb back up to the Olympic Adventure Trail. Day 2: Joyce to Sequim Bay - 68 miles.We end up at Salt Creek Campground for food and drink and plenty of stories as we watch the sunset over the Straits of Juan De Fuca. ![]() When we get to the end of Lake Crescent we can choose a 5 mile single track section or bypass it depending on how folks are feeling. This is a must ride section for its shear beauty and Hero miles (2 % downhill grade ). We then follow the Olympic Discovery trail which starts as a very quite road and turns into a paved bike trail through beautiful forest, crossing the Solduc River and then spectacularly descends to Lake Crescent. We link up to Hwy 101 for a short distance. The ride continues on country roads through forest and fields. Start with your toes dipped in the beautiful waters of the Pacific Ocean at Rialto Beach. Day 1: Rialto Beach to Salt Creek Campground - 64 miles.
